Associates Campaign: Meet Three of Our Rock Star Associate Trustees

We’re over a month in to our Associates Campaign, our annual fundraising drive run by associates at firms across metropolitan Washington, D.C. that runs from February 1st to April 30th. The lifeblood of this campaign are our Associate Trustees, fearless leaders that serve as ambassadors of the Committee’s mission within their firm and communities. We asked four of our rock star ATs what it means to them to serve in this role.

Sarah Pheasant
Drinker Biddle & Reath

“Associate Trusteeship is a way connect more deeply to the inner workings of WLC, its mission and history. Trusteeship offers myriad opportunities to contribute to the organization in a concrete way – and to shape its future position in the DC legal and social justice communities. Rather like Groucho Marx, it’s a club you’re astounded to join, since all the other members are unfathomably impressive!”

Jimmy Bierman
Sheppard Mullin

“The Washington Lawyers’ Committee has worked to eradicate poverty and discrimination in our region for over 50 years.  I am proud to do my small part.  Working with the Lawyers’ Committee early in my career on wage theft cases was an incredibly valuable experience.  These cases were “small” in dollars and cents, but could not have been more meaningful.  I look forward to continuing my work with the Lawyers’ Committee for years to come.”

Samantha Ondrade
Williams & Connolly LLP

“I am honored to serve as an Associate Trustee for the Washington Lawyers’ Committee.  As an attorney in private practice, I believe that I have a professional responsibility to contribute my time and financial support to organizations—like Washington Lawyers’ Committee—that provide legal services to the disadvantaged members of our community.  Helping to spread the good word of WLC among my colleagues and contribute to WLC’s anti-discrimination mission is a great way of fulfilling that responsibility.”
