ALERT: Habeas Corpus Granted for Prisoner Unlawfully Incarcerated for 18 Months
Marcus Rodgers, who has been unlawfully incarcerated for 18 months, will soon be released from prison after he was granted his writ of habeas corpus.
Having served more than 20 years, Mr. Rodgers was granted parole and released to a halfway house. He was then yanked back into prisonand had his parole rescinded without any new information to prompt such a decision and despite having found a job and obeying all the rules.
In partnership with Pepper Hamilton LLP, we filed a habeas petition on behalf of Mr. Rodgers, seeking his immediate release. Last week, we received an order granting Mr. Rodgers habeas corpus. He will be released from confinement shortly. This is especially important now that continued detention is a public health risk.
