5th Annual Celebration of Song Benefit Raises $80,000 for Washington Lawyers’ Committee Programs

On Monday, November 30, the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs held its 5th Annual Celebration of Song Benefit Concert, Reception & Raffle, at Theatre J, DC Jewish Community Center, in Washington, DC. The event, attended by more than 200 Committee supporters, raised $80,000 for the Committee’s Public Education Project.

The Benefit Concert featured acclaimed jazz vocalist Lori Williams and Washington, DC’s Wilson Senior High School Concert Choir.

Prior to the Concert, the Committee held raffle drawings for fabulous prizes, including trips to Paris, Snowmass, Chicago, and New York City; a luxury Washington, DC sports and theater package; and a top-notch selection of fine wines.

Proceeds from the event benefited the Committee’s public education work, including its highly praised DC Public School Partnership Program that provides tutoring, mentoring and other supportive services for thousands of DC Public School students annually.

The Committee gratefully acknowledges the donors of its raffle prizes, corporate sponsors, raffle ticket purchasers, performers, and event attendees for their support for the Committee.
