The Washington Lawyers’ Committee will be endowing a summer internship in our former Executive Director, Jonathan M. Smith’s name. This is a fitting tribute to Jonathan, who was a terrific mentor to young lawyers, and who has always viewed mentorship as one of his most important – and enjoyable – responsibilities. On top of that, the internship will provide a great opportunity for someone considering a career in civil rights advocacy, which is a wonderful investment in our future.
