LaToya Bell

LaToya Bell joined the Washington Lawyers' Committee in April 2017 as a Senior Staff Attorney following the merger of the Committee and the DC Employment Justice Center (EJC). At the EJC, she served as the Legal Director. Prior to joining the EJC team, Ms. Bell developed extensive and invaluable criminal litigation experience as an Assistant Public Defender with the Maryland Office of the Public Defender. During her four years with OPD, Ms. Bell delivered solid legal representation to the under-served communities on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

In addition to criminal defense work, Ms. Bell has experience working with prison litigation as a former paralegal of the General Counsel for D.C. Department of Correction as well as immigration law through her volunteer work with CAIR Coalition. Additionally, Ms. Bell frequently conducts “Knowing Your Rights” presentation with the ACLU of Maryland.
