Proposed Hubbard Class Action Settlement Agreement with USPS

A $4,550,000 settlement with the United States Postal Service (USPS) has been proposed on behalf of deaf and hard of hearing employees of the USPS to address claims of discrimination. The proposed settlement would provide payment of damages to the employees, and require the USPS to make specific accommodations in the future to deaf and hard of hearing USPS employees.

The judge has not yet granted final approval of the settlement. Notice letters have gone out today to class members, explaining the settlement and informing them of a fairness hearing on January 22, 2013. At the hearing, class members will have an opportunity to submit comments to the judge.  Class members may attend the hearing, if they want, but they are not required to do so.  After the hearing, the judge will decide whether to grant final approval of the settlement.

If you are deaf or hard of hearing and are a current or former employee of the USPS who was employed between November 14, 2001and October 19, 2012 this may concern you.  For more information, or to get a copy of the Class Notice translated into ASL please visit: www.HubbardSettlement.com.
